Bernard Matthews Foods and Grahams UK have successfully completed a project to replace 18 label applicators with newly designed Graham Top & Bottom labelling machines.  Once designed, the 18 were built and installed in just twelve weeks - without production being disrupted at all.

The huge task involved utilising a small amount of the existing machinery for the new Triple Headed applicators.  The specification comprises 2 top applicators and a bottom applicator on a split conveyor.  The packs are labelled at the rate of 120 at 40 m/min.  Interactive Coding Equipment's 'Zodiac' Solid State Thermal Printers are fitted to both Top Heads.

Nick Hart, Bernard Matthews Foods Departmental Engineering Manager says, "The main reason for the replacement was a product label re-launch to incorporate changes in legislation.  It also provided the opportunity to undertake a re-design of product labels".  Nick Hart adds, "This was a very difficult project and many changes such as label materials, label formats and altered delivery slots had to be incorporated into the mix.  Grahams UK handled the project in the best professional manner and, as in all our previous dealings with them they coped remarkably well.  Since the successful completion, Grahams UK have followed up with sound customer and service back up".
