Container manufacturer Dines Plastics was able to get substantial gains in productivity following the installation of a Graham sleeving machine
The RF120 (rotary feed) sleeve applicator was installed to complete the labelling line at Basildon-based Dines Plastics and was used primarily to apply sleeves to two sizes of PET peanut jars destined for a major high street store. It has also been used to apply sleeves to hand-cleaner containers.
Dines Plastics' Technical Development Manager, Andrew Gordon, explained that sleeves were previously hand-applied and the new sleeving machine has proved a great labour-saving move.
Dines Plastics chose Graham Labelling equipment for its high level of sophistication and for the firm's professional attitude. The RF120 is capable of handling up to 120 sleeves per minute; the firm's other rotary-feed machine, the RF200, can sleeve up to 250 containers per minute.
The rotary-feed RF machines are now complemented by Grahams latest innovation, the vertical-feed VF machines, designed for the high volume user. These computer controlled, servo-motor driven machines are capable of applying tamper-evident seals or full-body sleeving at up to 650 units per minute. The latest machines took two years to develop and were designed to increase production speeds, reduce maintenance costs, have the flexibility to handle varying containers and cut down time to a minimum.
