The delightfully named Suffolk Saucery, produce, as their name implies, a range of premium quality sauces, mayonnaises, pickles and jams. The company purchased a previously owned Graham RF120 tamper banding machine and approached Graham Engineering of Brightlingsea, Essex, to both refurbish it and to build a new system around it.
After refurbishing, Grahams added a conveyor, a material shrink tunnel and a Commander 200-25 self-adhesive label applicator to apply front and back labels. After thorough testing, the system was installed and commissioned in the Suffolk factory, then the staff were trained in the safe and correct use of the equipment.
There are change parts for six sizes of container. The containers are spaced by a pitching wheel which is fed in by a rotary table. The Commander 200-25 applies the two labels, the clear tamper band is applied by the RF120 and then shrunk into place. Suffolk Saucery Production Director, Peter Kerr, said "We are very happy with the system, it is working very well indeed. We found the system easy to set up and size change. Also it has proved to be very reliable. All our future shrink/banding, sleeving and labelling machines will certainly be Grahams".
