Villa Soft Drinks Ltd. of Washington, Tyne & Wear, has launched an exciting range of children’s water based still drinks called Wild Waters. Made in 4 exciting varieties with natural flavourings and no added sugar or Aspartame they are a healthy alternative to fizzy drinks and the first flavoured water designed specially for young kids. The unique 250ml plastic collectable ‘funky animal’ bottles are fitted with a sport cap for spill-free drinking and ideal for lunchboxes. The requirement for a maximum printed area on a complex shaped bottle precluded a label, so having decided on a full body decorative sleeve, Villa turned to Graham Labelling and Sleeving Systems who had successfully provided sleeving equipment for previous projects.
The solution was a Graham VF sleeving machine which, due to its versatility and servo motors, enables fast and accurate sleeve application at speeds of up to 650 bottles per minute. After application, a steam tunnel is used to shrink the colourful PVC sleeve tight on the bottle for a snug fit around the contours and curves without distorting the graphics of the animals depicted or the technical information text and barcode printed on the back.
Villa Engineering Manager, Ged Thewlis says “Grahams has always provided an excellent service with a rapid response to our needs and enquiries. While there may be cheaper alternatives, we know that we can have confidence in the accuracy and quality of Graham engineering. Something that is essential when you have 10 bottles passing through every second”.
